Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez calls Sacramento UFC main event a ‘dream come true’ at Golden 1 Center

Sean CunninghamSACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez will look to get back in the win column on Saturday night when he meets Gregory “Robocop” Rodrigues in the main event of UFC Fight Night 285 at Golden 1 Center.

Saturday’s headlining fight will be a homecoming of sorts for Hernandez, who is a native of Dunnigan and currently lives in El Dorado Hills. Being able to fight in a UFC main event so close to his hometown feels like a dream come true for the 32-year-old.

“For me this is like a dream come true, (one) that I’ve been chasing since I was a kid,” Hernandez told KCRA 3. “To headline in Sacramento in front of all the people that have never been able to like travel the world to go see me because of financial sh**, this is like such a big blessing to me and I’m excited for it.”

Hernandez (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) fell to sixth in the UFC Middleweight division and is looking to bounce back after seeing his eight-fight win streak end back in February’s loss to eventual UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Saturday’s fight will be the first for Hernandez, who trained with Strickland in preparations for his upcoming fight with Rodrigues.

Rodrigues (19-6, 10-3 UFC) is riding a three-fight win streak into Sacramento’s headlining fight with Hernandez – his most recent victory coming back in March against Brunno Ferreira by way of knockout. The 34-year-old is ranked 11th in the UFC Middleweight division.
