McLaren Oakland, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and the Pontiac-based hospital serving all of Oakland County, recently achieved accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation as a Center of Excellence in both Orthopedic Surgery and Robotic Surgery. A national organization, the SRC is an independent, nonprofit patient safety organization dedicated to enhancing surgical care by recognizing those who meet proven quality and safety standards.
The accreditations recognize McLaren Oakland for meeting nationally and internationally recognized standards for surgical quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
“These accreditations are a meaningful reflection of the skill, commitment, and teamwork that define surgical care in our organization,” said Dr. Joseph Zajchowski, Chief Medical Officer of McLaren Oakland. “Earning Center of Excellence recognition in both orthopedic and robotic surgery demonstrates that our patients can feel confident knowing their care is supported by established standards, advanced clinical capabilities, and a team deeply committed to safety, quality, and patients’ outcomes.”
As part of the accreditation process, health care facilities and surgeons undergo an extensive assessment and inspection to ensure they meet SRC’s standards and requirements, including surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways, standardized operating procedures, patient education, and ongoing quality assessment.
In addition to the hospital accreditation, several McLaren Oakland surgeons were recognized as Surgeons of Excellence in both orthopedic and robotic surgery.
For Surgeon of Excellence in Orthopedics, those surgeons include Dr. Robert Howard, Dr. Stephen Lemos, Dr. Andrew Limbert, Dr. Devone Mansour, Dr. Shivajee Nallamothu, Dr. Uzma Rehman, and Dr. Matthew Sardelli. Those recognized as Surgeon of Excellence in Robotics are Dr. Mayo Mitsuya, Dr. Bradley Rosenberg, Dr. Jordy Sacksner, and Dr. Jonathan Zaidan.
