Multiple fights broke out during a music concert this weekend at Chukchansi Park, including a melee that left one man with his face covered with blood.
It happened near the end of a concert that featured a lineup of multiple musical groups and solo artists Saturday at the downtown ballpark.
A witness from the crowd of about 10,000 people told The Fresno Bee that four or five fights occurred at different times and separate areas of the park — oddly enough while romantic music played in the background.
Videos posted on social media show stadium security trying to defuse the situation. But those involved in the fighting ignored the security’s presence and directives.
“Something was in the air that night,” said Maudy Lamas, who posted a 5-minute video of an incident that occurred in the right field area (which was covered to protect the playing surface).
“I’ve been to 7 or 8 of these bailes (dances) in the past few years and this was the first time I’ve ever seen a fight.
“Then later when I went on social media, I found out there were multiple fights. It was kind of crazy.”
In his video, Lamas recorded multiple people fighting, with punches thrown in several directions and sucker punches snuck in; with some folks knocked to the ground, even a man trying to hit a security person attempting to defuse the situation.
At times, people who appeared to be breaking up a fight would suddenly be attacked, prompting more punches.
Midway through the video, a man can be seen with blood gushing down from the top of his head and onto his shirt. It was unclear if the man had been fighting or was watching from too close. It also wasn’t known how he ended up bleeding.
Multiple fights occurred Aug. 15, 2026, during a Latino music concert at Chukchansi Park, ending in six arrests. One man ended up covered in blood.
Lamas’ video eventually shows concertgoers calming, including those who were fighting.
However, Lamas said he saw a couple of other guys fighting by the restrooms. And other videos posted on social media show multiple women pushing, shoving and punching.
Fresno police arrested six people at the event, including three on suspicion of disorderly conduct and two on suspicion of domestic violence. Police said one person was assaulted with a belt buckle, though it was not known if that was the same person who was left bloodied up.
The Fresno Grizzlies front office, which operates Chukchansi Park, said it was aware of videos from this weekend’s concert and called the fighting behaviors “unacceptable and does not reflect the standard we hold for events at our venue.”
The Grizzlies add they were working with security and event staff to review how to improve response should similar incidents in the future were to arise.
“We will continue working hard to ensure every event here is safe and enjoyable for our guests,” the Grizzlies said in a statement.
Lamas said he was surprised to see fighting at the concert.
“Usually, people go to these things and just have a good time; it’s chill,” Lamas said. “Whatever (the) reason Saturday, some people had a lot of adrenaline rushing.”
Artists on the scheduled lineup included Los Inquietos del Norte, Gerardo Ortiz, Los Farmerz, Arley Pérez, Los Dinámicos del Norte and Los Caimanes de Sinaloa.
