Summer storms have moved Tijuana Municipal’s Little League World Series opener back by three hours, while Sweetwater Valley will play at the same time but at a different location.
Little League announced the schedule change early Thursday due to “the impact of expected inclement weather” in and around Williamsport, Pa., home of the LLWS.
Tijuana Municipal will now play Australia at noon PDT from Volunteer Stadium. Sweetwater Valley will still play at 3 p.m., but its game has been moved to Lamade Stadium. Japan will play Curaçao at Volunteer Stadium.
All games will be shown on ESPN.
Sweetwater Valley, located in Bonita, is representing the Western United States at the Little League World Series, which will be held over the next 10 days
Tijuana Municipal is representing Mexico. The two teams are in separate pods, meaning the Little Leagues separated by just 12 miles can’t meet each other unless both advance to the final.
