An unknown buyer has officially scooped up Diane Keaton’s custom Los Angeles home, to the tune of $18 million, AD has confirmed. The sale closed at a hefty discount from the $26.9 million asking price that was attached to the property. The estate itself is the subject of Keaton’s 2017 book The House That Pinterest Built. It hit the market last December, a couple of months after the actor’s death at age 79. Keaton had originally listed the home in March 2025 for $28.9 million, after 14 years of ownership. The asking price had most recently been reduced to $22.9 million.

The Something’s Gotta Give star bought the property in 2011 for $4.7 million and then custom-built the 9,200-square-foot farmhouse, turning to Pinterest to collect design inspiration. “I follow my impulses just like I did with acting,” Keaton told AD of her process during a 2017 tour of the finished dwelling. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom house was built from 75,000 reclaimed bricks that Keaton shipped in from Chicago. “I initially thought I was going to paint [the bricks] white, because I love white and black, duh!” she said. “But I started to really love the brick and the textures of it, and, well, I don’t know, how they weren’t perfect.”

Though the Oscar winner kept the exterior bricks unpainted, she employed her favorite black-and-white color scheme throughout the dwelling’s interiors, including the industrial-inspired kitchen, which features a wall of bricks that Keaton did coat in white paint, white and dark gray cabinetry, an oversized black clock, and a jet-black hutch that matched the nearby dining room chairs. Another of the home’s highlights is a sprawling library lined with white shelves and centered around a black staircase. A guesthouse and a swimming pool round out the property.
