BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Teen drivers and parents or guardians in Bakersfield can learn safe driving habits at a free California Highway Patrol Start Smart class on August 27.
The two-hour, no-cost program is designed for current and prospective teenage drivers and their parents or guardians. The class covers safe driving habits, the consequences of poor choices behind the wheel, and tips to help drivers avoid a crash. The program is intended to help parents and teens become more aware, more educated, and better prepared to handle the stress of a new driver.
The class is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the CHP Bakersfield Office, located at 9855 Compagnoni Street.

Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
