Recent data from IWSR suggests the drinking gap between legal-age Gen Z adults and older generations in the U.S. has largely disappeared. In other words, young Angelenos still want dinner, drinks, karaoke and a night on the town. They just might not want the $22 cocktail that comes with it.
Luckily, L.A. still has plenty of ways to get out of the house without destroying your bank account. From $8 mini cocktails and Thai Taco Tuesdays to bottles of wine without the restaurant markup, these are some of the best recurring deals to build your week around — all for around $30 or less.
Every Night: $8 Mini Cocktails at Night on Earth

At Night on Earth, near Barham Boulevard and Cahuenga Boulevard, an inventive cocktail doesn’t have to cost $20.
The award-winning bar recently updated its technically ambitious cocktail program with a menu that puts playful spins on nostalgic classics. The Midori Sour, for example, gets a vegan and nut-free update with fresh honeydew juice, while a bourbon milk punch takes inspiration from blueberry cheesecake.
Full-size cocktails are $13, but those looking to keep the tab especially low can opt for a mini for just $8.

Tuesday: Thai Tacos and $7 Drinks at Tuk Tuk Thai
Taco Tuesday gets a Thai twist at Tuk Tuk Thai near Sawtelle and Santa Monica Boulevard.
The restaurant’s Thai Taco Tuesday features $7 to $8 tacos served on corn tortillas made by Komal, with fillings that go far beyond the usual carne asada. Options include herb-cured confit pork shank topped with makrut lime pico and smoky Thai chile salsa roja, as well as fried cumin-infused catfish layered with spicy mango salsa and bird’s eye chile crema.
There’s also Thai-style elote brushed with coconut milk and topped with Tajín, bird’s eye chile crema and shredded coconut. Pair it with rotating wines or an ice-cold Singha, priced from $7 to $12.
Tuesday: No-Cover Karaoke at Andy’s
If your ideal Tuesday involves grabbing a microphone after a little liquid courage, head to Andy’s in West Hollywood.
The venue from Anderson .Paak hosts Casablanca Karaoke alongside comedy and DJ sets, with no cover charge on Tuesdays. Hello Soju keeps the drinks flowing, including specialty cocktails made with the brand’s flagship spirit.
It’s an easy midweek option for anyone who would rather spend their money at the bar than just getting through the door.
Wednesday: Thai Street Market Night at Chao Krung
Beginning Sept. 1, Chao Krung Thai on Fairfax Avenue, across from The Grove, is bringing the energy of a Thai street market to Wednesday nights.
The restaurant’s new Ping Ping and Kanom Jeen Curry Night centers on grilled meat and vegetable skewers alongside housemade Thai curries. The dishes are served with unlimited rice noodles, making it a particularly filling midweek dinner option.
The experience ranges from $24 to $32, meaning diners can stay right around the $30 mark depending on what they order.
Sunday: Retail-Priced Wine at Thunderbolt
Sunday wine night gets considerably more affordable at Thunderbolt in Echo Park.
Beyond its acclaimed cocktail program, the bar offers bottles of wine at retail pricing every Sunday — cutting out the steep restaurant markup that can turn an otherwise affordable bottle into a splurge.
That means a bottle that might typically appear on a restaurant wine list for around $70 could cost as little as $28.
