Join the Library, in partnership with the World War II Heroes Foundation and Honor Flight San Diego, for a special free screening of the documentary film America at 250: Through the Eyes of Our Heroes, featuring the stories and reflections of World War II veterans on Tuesday, August 25 at 11 a.m.
The film shares the story of our nation’s history through the eyes of some of our remaining WWII veterans. These men and women reflect on what America means to them in its 250th year and on the freedoms they fought to preserve not only for their own country, but for oppressed peoples around the globe. Featuring several Coronado and San Diego veterans, it’s a film that shares their collective message to the next generation: “The dream is yours now. Keep it.” The screening will be followed by a discussion with producer and director Doug Stebleton, as well as a Q&A with the local WWII veterans Walt Travis, Bill and Betty Ridenour, “Rosie the Riveter” Ena Slaughter, and Roberta Tidmore, who lent their voices to the film.
Registration is strongly recommended for this event. Standby guests will be accommodated as space allows. Please visit cplevents.org for more information.
