Friday, Aug. 21
Forecast: High of 68; low clouds followed by some sun

6 p.m. Dinner at The Mess Hall
After much anticipation and opening delays, the Presidio’s newest food hall welcomed its first guests last weekend. Before heading to a free movie night at the Marina Green, pop by The Mess Hall for a casual dinner. There are three restaurants under one roof, so everyone can order exactly what they want.
7:30 p.m. Sundown Cinema (opens in new tab) at Marina Green
Friday-night entertainment that doesn’t cost a dime? Count us in. After dinner, take a scenic 1-mile stroll to The Standard’s outdoor movie series, screening the ’90s remake of “The Parent Trap,” starring Lindsay Lohan. We’ll have blankets, tote bags, a zine, and more exclusive merch. The movie starts at 8 p.m., but we suggest coming early to snag a prime viewing spot.
10:30 p.m. Drinks at Frankie’s
After the movie, head to Chestnut Street for a proper martini or Negroni at Frankie’s. If you’re feeling adventurous, order the Tableside Caesar, a Parmesan-and-anchovy-spiked cocktail you can’t find anywhere else.
Saturday, Aug. 22

11 a.m. Coffee at Painted Leopard
Weekend mornings are for trying new coffee shops. Start your day with Painted Leopard’s permanent outpost inside TheRealReal’s flagship in Union Square. The El Salvadorian cafe, which started as a pop-up, serves brown-sugar lattes, pourovers, and tea, so you have something to sip on while perusing designer grails.

1 p.m. BAPE in the Bay block party (opens in new tab)
It’s rare that SF gets brand events like BAPE’s free party, so consider it a sign that downtown is back. Try your luck at winning prizes, grab a bite from the vendors, and stick around to catch “surprise guests.”
5 p.m. Fried chicken and peach mango pie at Jollibee
If you’ve been reading our food coverage or tuning in to “PST with Emily Dreyfuss,” you know that it took six years and a great deal of permitting headaches for Jollibee to open on Market Street. Since you’re downtown, consider it a good excuse to try the Filipino chain’s spaghetti, peach mango pie, and fried chicken. From what we’ve heard, it was worth the wait (opens in new tab).
Sunday, Aug. 23
Forecast: High of 68; areas of low clouds, then some sun
11 a.m. Pool Party Adopt-athon (opens in new tab) at Muttville
Start Sunday on a wholesome note in the Mission. Play with senior rescue dogs dressed in tropical attire and maybe even take one home at this summery adoption event.
2 p.m. Tacos and margs at Ruby’s
Take a leisurely journey out to the Sunset along the N Judah line until you reach the ocean. The weather may not scream summer, but the menu at Ruby’s sure does. Fuel up on smashburger tacos, chicken Caesar wraps, margaritas, and micheladas. There’s an evening of beach digging ahead of you.
5 p.m. A wrestling and hole-digging party (opens in new tab) at Ocean Beach
San Francisco’s hottest club is … a giant sand hole? The city’s most Sisyphean event, the Hole Party, returns in collaboration with Queer Fight Night. Dig a giant hole, cheer on rowdy wrestling matches, and revel in community fun. Then, once the sun sets, fill the hole back up. Who can have Sunday scaries at an event so silly?
