Macomb County police this week seized dozens of grams of fentanyl along with thousands of dollars and two weapons following a monthlong investigation into alleged drug houses in Macomb and Oakland counties.
According to a news release, the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) on Wednesday, Aug. 19 executed search warrants in Fraser in Macomb County and in West Bloomfield in Oakland County. The searches topped off an investigation of an individual selling narcotics in the Metro Detroit area, Michigan State Police said in the release.
“In total, detectives seized over 90 grams of fentanyl, over 50 grams of cocaine, approximately 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine, various prescription pills (xanax and alprazolam), and 2 handguns,” state police said.
Investigators also seized over $14,500 in cash with intent to forfeit.
Authorities did not release the locations of the two properties where the drugs were located.
The suspect was being held at the Macomb County Jail pending review by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect’s name, age, and residence were not released.
COMET was assisted by Michigan State Police troopers from the 1st District Headquarters and the Fraser Police Department.
COMET is an undercover drug task force made up of officers from Chesterfield Township, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Shelby Township, and federal agencies.
The investigation was supported by Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) awarded by the U.S. Justice Department and administered by Michigan State Police.
