Re “Future of Lake Hodges Dam in limbo as costs, needs clash” (Aug. 9): How the city of San Diego is dealing with the Lake Hodges Dam is so typical of our local politicians.

A 100-year-old dam needs to be replaced — an obvious problem with an obvious solution. But what do they do? Study the hell out of it. Kick the can down the road.

In the meantime, the cost of the obvious solution keeps going up and up.
