Lando Norris won the last race before Formula One’s summer break in Hungary last month.
Four weeks later, he went back-to-back with a victory at the Dutch Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion was winless in the first 10 races of the 2026 season after capturing his first title last year. Norris appears to be back on track, challenging this season’s top drivers to win in the Netherlands on Sunday.
Norris started on pole after a stellar qualifying session on Saturday. He held the lead on the initial race start, but his advantage was wiped away when hometown hero Max Verstappen crashed out at the end of lap two.
That put the race under a red flag, with a subsequent standing start giving championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes another chance at passing Norris. He did just that, taking the top spot into the first turn after Norris’ slow start off the line.
Norris followed in Antonelli’s tracks for lap after lap from there. They both boxed on the same lap and exited together on their first stop. For the second pit stops, Antonelli boxed several laps earlier than Norris and the McLaren used the tire advantage to close up on the Mercedes.
With Lewis Hamilton leading on older tires and Antonelli and Norris following close behind, the defending champion rocketed to the outside of the young phenom and took the second position with a power move. Norris then cleared Hamilton for the lead moments later with just 18 laps remaining.
From there, Norris held on to the lead through two virtual safety cars and pit stops from the drivers chasing him to win it. This was the 13th win of Norris’ career and second of the season, propelling him up to fourth in the championship standings.
Antonelli finished second to retain his championship lead, followed by Mercedes teammate George Russell rounding out the podium.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were fourth and fifth, respectively. The rest of the point-scorers were McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, Red Bull’s Liam Lawson (filling in for the injured Isack Hadjar), Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.
With 11 races still remaining in the season, Antonelli leads Russell (-59 points), Hamilton (-59), Norris (-83) and Leclerc (-87). The 2026 F1 season continues with the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Sept. 6.
