BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Summer lives on in this part of the world and our forecast reflects that reality.
As a large upper-level-ridge remains the dominant weather player on our regional field those hot daily temperatures look to continue.
The direction of travel that the air currents take is a significant factor in interpreting our actual weather. This time of year a flow from the southeast is a good sign that monsoonal clouds, showers and thunderstorms will be paying the area a visit. Sunday’s weather, as of now, features more of a south-southwesterly flow, which tends to shunt that moisture to our east.

As a result, the forecast is dry for now but the temperatures will again be rather high. The South Valley to the Kern River Valley may be home to the upper 90s, while Tehachapi could end up around 90. The desert is still forecast to be our triple digit territory.
