San Diego-based experiential marketing firm GDX Studios reports it assisted in the creation of “Clash for the Stache,” an interactive popup inspired by the “Clash of Clans” video game.

The popup, now open through Monday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Headquarters at Seaport Village (789 West Harbor Dr.) invites fans of all ages to step into a real-life “Clash” village and team up for high-energy physical puzzle challenges.

To take back the village, visitors join forces with the Archer Queen and tackle a series of physical puzzle-based challenges inspired by the mobile game, which was first released by Supercell in 2012. Their mission: reclaim the Barbarian’s mustache, defeat the Goblin King and save the kingdom.

A spokesperson said GDX Studios coordinated efforts between multiple teams to turn an empty storefront into an immersive world out of “Clash.” The company worked hand-in-hand with the team behind the game to develop what they called a one-of-a-kind user journey.

“It was an extremely rewarding experience to expand our partnership with Supercell to bring this location-based experience to life,” GDX President Seth Bardacke told Times of San Diego. “We greatly appreciate their creative vision and commitment to the San Diego community by extending this program far beyond the standard four-day run of Comic-Con activations by other entertainment brands.”

“Clash for the Stache” was also an attraction at San Diego Comic-Con, held last month at the San Diego Convention Center.

“The San Diego Comic-Con community showed up for Clash for the Stache in a big way,” said Ashley Jex Wagner, head of Live Experiences for Supercell. “So we’re keeping the village open a few more weeks. We built it for clans of every age, 7 to 70, so gather yours, take on the challenge, and grab the merch while it’s here. This is the only place you’ll find it.”

Admission starts at $6 per person and tickets can be purchased at the on-site box office and event website. Group booking options are available for birthday celebrations, team-building outings and other group visits.

The Headquarters at Seaport Village is an historic former police headquarters located along Harbor Drive, next to Seaport Village. The “Clash” pop-up can be accessed through the courtyard next to the Cheesecake Factory and Puesto Mexican restaurant.

Supercell, based in Helsinki, Finland, with California offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, has brought six games to the global market since the company’s founding in 2010. The games include Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and Squad Busters.

Los Angeles Chargers sign on with Spanish-language radio partner

The National Football League’s (NFL) Los Angeles Chargers have inked a multi-year partnership with TelevisaUnivision’s two L.A.-based, Spanish-language radio stations.

The deal makes Latino Mix 103.9-FM/89.3-FM and TUDN Los Angeles KSCA 101.9-FM-HD3 the official Spanish-language radio home of L.A. Chargers football beginning with the 2026 NFL season, with every Chargers game airing in Spanish for fans across Southern California.

A statement said the agreement strengthens TelevisaUnivision’s commitment to delivering sports programming to Hispanic audiences and establishes TUDN Los Angeles as a leading destination for sports fans in the region.

“The Chargers are one of the most important sports franchises in Los Angeles, with a passionate and growing Latino fan base,” said Carlos Azcarate, vice-president of sports radio for TelevisaUnivision. “There is no better way to establish ourselves as the home of sports in Southern California than by delivering the excitement, energy and tradition of Chargers football in Spanish.”

Also, the partnership marks an early showcase for Latino Mix LA, TelevisaUnivision’s recently launched audio brand targeting bilingual, bicultural and digital-first Hispanic audiences in Southern California.

“Latino Mix reflects where Los Angeles is headed,” said Jesus Chavez, senior vice president of West Coast content strategy at TelevisaUnivision. “It’s built for the ‘200%ers’ who are redefining music, culture and sports fandom. Together with the Chargers, we’re building more than a broadcast partnership. We’re creating a platform that connects one of Los Angeles’ biggest franchises with the next generation of Latino fans.”

The partnership also will extend beyond game-day broadcasts, creating a year-round platform for Spanish-language coverage, fandom-driven content, community activations and fan experiences, a statement said. TelevisaUnivision will support the collaboration across its multimedia platforms, including radio, digital, social media and local television, bringing fans closer to the team throughout the season.

A.G. Spanos, Chargers president of business operations, said the partnership recognizes the importance of the Hispanic community to the franchise and gives the team additional ways to reach Spanish-speaking fans.

“TelevisaUnivision is the largest and most influential Spanish-language media company in the world,” Spanos said in a statement. “When the opportunity to partner with them presented itself, and considering how vitally important the Hispanic community is to everything we do, it’s safe to say that this was an opportunity we simply could not pass up. Through Latino Mix and TUDN Los Angeles, we will be able to engage our fans in a meaningful, authentic way while providing another tailored platform for fans to experience Chargers football.”

The Chargers Spanish-language broadcast will continue feature Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Adrian Garcia-Marquez, now in his seventh consecutive season with the team after also calling Chargers games in the mid-2000s, and Emmy Award-winning color analyst Francisco Pinto, who has also previously worked as a sports and news anchor in Los Angeles.

San Diego was the Chargers’ home for 56 years before the team’s relocation to Los Angeles was announced in January 2017.
