The Reds led 3-0 before the Arizona Diamondbacks roared back with a four-run seventh inning to claim a 5-3 win in the deciding game of a three-game series on Sunday. Andrew Abbott pitched five scoreless innings before the game got away from him, as he failed to record an out in the seventh and was charged with all four runs in the frame. Cincinnati scored all its runs in the third on an RBI single by Sal Stewart and a two-run knock from Eugenio Suárez.
Rookie left-hander Carson Whisenhunt (3-4) starts the series opener for the Giants, coming in with a 7.03 ERA and 1.844 WHIP in seven starts and 32 innings. Right-hander Chase Burns (14-2) takes the ball for Cincinnati, entering with a 2.51 ERA and 1.110 WHIP in 136 innings over 24 starts, striking out 159.
