The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County announced Monday it will launch a winter lights experience in November featuring illuminated installations, projections and artwork throughout the museum and its gardens.
The inaugural “NightTales” will be held on select nights from Nov. 12 through Jan. 10, with timed admission from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the museum in Exposition Park, according to the museum.
The indoor-outdoor event will feature illuminated installations and cinematic projections throughout the museum’s halls and gardens, officials said.
The experience will also feature work by Los Angeles-based artist Maggie West, whose photography uses color, light and scale to create images of natural subjects.
For “NightTales,” West’s time-lapse photography will be used to transform specimens from the museum’s collection into illuminated works of art, officials said.
“NightTales” will be offered Nov. 12-15, 20, 22-25 and 27-29; Dec. 4-6, 11-13, 18-23 and 26-31; and Jan. 2-10.
General admission will cost $30 for adults and $25 for children, while museum members will pay $20.
Tickets will go on sale to museum members Thursday and to the general public Sept. 1.
The museum recently opened NHM Commons, a community-focused addition intended to connect natural history with science, nature and culture.
The Natural History Museum is at 900 Exposition Blvd. in Exposition Park.
