The local nonprofit SAY San Diego has kicked off its annual campaign to help families across San Diego have a happier holiday season. Last year, SAY San Diego provided $100 gift cards to 250 families that needed a little extra help. With this year’s Holiday Hopes campaign, the goal is to raise funds to provide 300 families with $100 gift cards, small appliances and toys so that parents can “celebrate in a way that’s personal and dignified.”

SAY San Diego partners with schools, community coalitions and local government to work together to create positive change.Their  programs and services reach children, justice-involved youth, military families, caregivers and foster parents, and help support immigrants, refugees and asylees.

“As a fellow resident of the Carmel Valley bubble, I know it’s hard to imagine there are families who must choose between food and holiday gifts for their kids,” said Louie Nguyen, SAY San Diego’s president and CEO. “The reality is that many mothers and fathers must make these wrenching decisions, particularly in this macro environment. Joy is one of the most basic human needs. I hope you will consider joining us to create joy!”
