A man was hospitalized after a shooting in Fresno on Monday afternoon.

Fresno police spokesperson Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said officers responded to a shooting near Butler Avenue and Fifth Street around 12:45 p.m.

Officers found one victim, a man in his late 30s, Trueba Vega said. He had a gunshot injury to his lower abdomen.

He was taken to a hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.

Trueba Vega said the victim was taken into the operating room and is in stable condition.

Officers did not have suspect information to release.
