San Jose State transfer Walker Eget named QB1 at Duke

Aug. 25 (UPI) — San Jose State transfer Walker Eget was named the starting quarterback at Duke, the Blue Devils announced Tuesday.

Eget was granted an NCAA waiver for a sixth collegiate season and committed to the Blue Devils in February. He totaled 30 passing scores against 19 interceptions over the last two seasons for the Spartans.

Eget was competing with redshirt freshman Dan Mahan for the right to replace departed starter Darian Mensah, who transferred to Miami. He completed 59% of his throws for 3,051 yards, 17 scores and nine interceptions over 11 appearances last season.

He was 247 Sports’ No. 79 quarterback recruit in the class of 2021.

The Blue Devils will host the Tulane Green Wave in their regular season opener at 3:30 p.m. EDT Sept. 5 at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C.
