(FOX40.COM) — A man was killed and a woman was injured in a crash Friday afternoon in the Rio Linda area of Sacramento County, officials said.
First responders were dispatched around 2:02 p.m. to the 2100 block of Elkhorn Boulevard, just north of the Sacramento International Airport, for a reported crash involving two vehicles, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of “significant injuries.”
According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman driving a sedan westbound lost control while passing other vehicles, crossed the center median and collided with another sedan driven by a man, who was killed in the crash. The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, CHP said.
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors i causing he crash.
