BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — OpenAI has formed a partnership with the Kern High School District and is bringing ‘ChatGPT for Teachers,’ as part of an expansion that includes 30 new school systems.
‘ChatGPT for Teachers’ is a workspace built for teachers and school leaders to personalize lessons, do more with prep time, and collaborate, according to a press release.
The AI adoption in Kern County is expected to help teachers safely use AI in their day-to-day work.
Eyewitness News has reached out to KHSD for comment, but has not received a response.

OpenAI has also released a new Back-to-School report: “Learning Never Stops,” a new report that shows how AI makes learning continuous.
Key findings in the report were:
460M+ ChatGPT prompts per week in the U.S. are related to coursework and homework during the school year, with activity peaking on Sunday evenings.Up to 70M conversations per week across age groups are used for self-testing, with users checking answers, showing their own attempts and asking for additional practice.1.9M+ messages this year relate to tasks that help educators save time, including lesson planning, progress reports and other administrative work.
