Sacramento father arrested a year after 4-month-old child’s death, police say
More than a year after an infant died, the Sacramento Police Department said it arrested the baby’s father in connection with the death.
Victor Weaver, 22, faces a homicide charge in his 4-month-old child’s death, police said.
On Aug. 14, 2025, police said they got a report around 9 a.m. of an unresponsive child being dropped off at a fire station. They took the baby to a hospital, where the baby later died.
Officers learned the baby came from a home in the 1700 block of West El Camino Avenue near Truxel Road, police said. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators took over the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office determined the baby died by homicide, police said. Detectives identified Weaver as the suspected killer and got a warrant for his arrest.
Police said they arrested Weaver on Tuesday. The baby’s identity was not released.
Jail records show Weaver is ineligible for bail, and there are no court dates scheduled yet in connection with his child’s death.
