Sacramento is in for a hot Wednesday, with sunny skies and light winds allowing temperatures to approach triple digits.

The heat will linger Thursday before clouds increase and tropical moisture raises Sierra shower chances Friday.

Cooler weather is expected this weekend and into early September.

Wednesday Forecast

Much of the valley will flirt with triple digits today with some areas further from the Delta reaching 100.

Expect more sunshine skies and very light winds.

Temperature trend

The heat will linger into Thursday, with temperatures dropping only a few degrees.

A bigger cooling trend will start on Friday as clouds thicken and westerly winds return.

A touch of tropical moisture

However clouds will begin increasing late Thursday into Friday, signaling the arrival of remnant tropical moisture from the current Tropical Storm Iselle.

Friday’s cloud and rain outlook

In the valley, increased cloud cover is expected but higher elevations should prepare for showers on Friday.
