Freeport Bakery, located in Sacramento’s Land Park area, confirmed on social media the business is being sold to new ownership.

A post on the bakery’s Facebook page on Tuesday included a link from local news publication Abridged, who reported a sale to the owner of Ettore’s Bakery and

Café, Lisa Calk.

“It’s true. In case you’ve heard the rumors,” Freeport Bakery’s post reads. “We are so happy we found the perfect fit to keep Freeport, well Freeport! Same recipes, same staff, same name, and new energy. It’s time for us to retire. Going on 40 years that have flown by. We love you Sacramento!”

Walter and Marlene Goetzeler have owned Freeport Bakery since 1987, turning the establishment into an award-winning, community staple over the years, known for its intricate wedding cakes and quality service.

Freeport Bakery’s new owner Lisa Calk runs the Arden-Arcade’s Ettore’s Bakery, another beloved Sacramento eatery, alongside her husband and daughter.
