A 22-year-old Ohio man riding a motorcycle died after hitting a guardrail and then being struck by two vehicles on state Route 163 in the Hillcrest area Monday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Harley-Davidson was traveling north on SR-163, south of the Robinson Avenue exit, just before 11:40 p.m., according to a CHP news release.
The motorcycle struck the center median guardrail for unknown reasons, causing the rider to be ejected onto the roadway, CHP officials said. The rider was then struck by a Tesla Model Y and a Toyota Camry, officials said.
The rider suffered major injuries and died. His name was not released pending notification of family.
The Tesla and Toyota drivers “remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation and were determined not to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol,” according to the CHP.
