Popular Sacramento YouTuber unveils sneaker inspired by local community
A world-renowned Sacramento-based YouTuber is releasing a new sneaker collaboration that celebrates Sacramento and the Bay Area, with an exclusive launch event this weekend.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Chris Chase, a Sacramento-based YouTuber, is launching a sneaker collaboration inspired by Sacramento and the Bay Area.
Known for his channel with nearly 1 million subscribers “WearTesters,” where he tests and critiques shoes, Chase is releasing the “Serious Player Only x WearTesters Player 1.5” sneaker, dubbed “Just Wing It.”
The exclusive in-store early release will take place Saturday, Aug. 29, at Phenom in the DOCO shopping center from 3 to 6 p.m.
Customers who purchase the shoe at the event will be invited to play basketball with Chase the following day at CORE Recreation Center, with RSVP details provided at the time of purchase.
The sneaker will also be available online starting Monday, Aug. 31.
“Serious Player Only gave us one of the best basketball shoes of 2026 with the Player 1.5, and now they’re set to release the best sneaker collab of the year – although we may be a little biased,” Chase said.
The collaboration stems from a years-long relationship between Chase and Serious Player Only, a Chinese brand.
After Chase gave their first sneaker, the Player 1, a harsh review, the brand took the feedback in stride and began sending him sample pairs to test.
This led to a WearTesters merchandise collaboration and now a custom colorway of the Player 1.5, which Chase described as the brand’s best basketball shoe to date.
