A new pizzeria has joined the Sacramento pizza game, serving deep dish and New York styles of the popular Italian pie.
Frico Pizza Co., is now serving customers at 1429 Broadway in Land Park. The restaurant specializes in the rectangular Detroit deep dish pizza, known for its focaccia dough.
You can get your pizza topped with classic cheese, pepperoni, hot honey, potatoes, sausage or pineapple. The restaurant’s pizzas are priced from $23 to $29 and are 8-by-10 inches, according to its online menu.
For a smaller and cheaper option, Frico Pizza also serves mini versions of its full sized pies with their caramelized cheese crusts. Frico, in the modern sense, refers to that dark, crunchy, cheesy edge found on a Detroit-style pizza. The restaurant also sells an assortment of foldable 14-inch New York style pizzas along with potato wedges, chicken wings and salads.
The long-awaited pizzeria was announced in January, according to the restaurant’s social media. It’s located along the Broadway corridor across from Sampino’s Kitchen at Joe Marty’s and the Tower Cafe.
Frico Pizza replaced the Broadway corridor’s Jamba Juice which closed in 2022. A Power Bowl was supposed to occupy the space, but that came to fruition.
Frico Pizza Co., is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, according to its website.
