BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The CAPK Veterans and Supportive Services Program is set to host a recycling event and drive-thru lunch in downtown Bakersfield to support veterans experiencing homelessness and housing instability.
The recycling drive drop-off is set for 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Compassion Corner, outside of the KGET Studios at the corner of 21st and L streets.
The drive-thru lunch is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same location. For $20 community members can get a deep-pit sandwich, chips, a drink and a cookie.

Proceeds from the events will benefit the Veterans Stand Down event, which provides homeless and at-risk Veterans with resources and support. CAPK organizers said the event will take place Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stramler Park.
