The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. after multiple 911 calls.
According to the Fresno Fire Department, fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a home along Palm and Shields avenues. Seven people lived at the home, but only one of them was home when the fire started, and was able to get out safely.
A Fresno Fire official said the damage will “most likely” displace all seven people.
The fire began to spread to a neighboring home. Crews were also able to keep the fire from causing significant damage to the neighboring home, which had minor smoke damage. One person was inside that home, and they also got out safely.
No injuries were reported.
Thirty two firefighters responded to the fire. Palm Avenue was closed in both directions Thursday afternoon while crews remained at the scene putting out hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
