Woman injured in Hawk Fire dies at UC Davis Medical Center

An 83-year-old woman who was hospitalized at UC Davis Medical Center due to the Hawk Fire in Nevada has died, according to officials.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Reno resident Hayde Medina-Valiente.

The Hawk Fire is 93% contained and has burned 15,085 acres, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

At least seven people, including three first responders, have been injured. Officials said that 47 homes and one commercial structure have been destroyed. Eight other commercial structures have also been damaged.

Thousands of residents have been allowed to return home while about 5,000 residents are still under evacuation orders.
