A man was hospitalized after a small plane crashed in a field near the Big Bear airport Thursday evening, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Dispatchers received numerous calls reporting the plane crash at approximately 6:18 p.m., authorities said. Upon arrival, deputies found a small, fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft that had crashed nose-down in a field just east of the airport.
One man, who was the only occupant of the aircraft, was taken to a hospital for his injuries. Authorities did not provide information about his condition or the severity of his injuries.
No other property was damaged in the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
The incident remains under investigation.
