Kern High School District boosts athletic event safety with new ID and bag rules

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern High School District announced enhanced safety measures at stadiums for athletic events on Wednesday.

They include:

Increased security and law enforcement personnel on siteAll high school students must have a valid school-issued IDStudents not enrolled in high school must be accompanied and supervised by an adultWeapons or objects used as weapons are prohibitedNo backpacks allowed inside the venueAll bags subject to search; clear bags recommendedArrive early; expect delays due to security measuresDress codes will be enforced and no face coverings allowedSpectators must remain in designated seating and other identified areasCIF behavioral guidelines and event expectations will be strictly enforcedAnyone who does not follow event expectations may be removed and restricted from future events

Officials said that KHSD’s Safety Team has reviewed emergency plans and protocols. With help from the KHSD Police Department and local law enforcement, officials made the above changes.
