PULLMAN — The Washington State Cougars used a strong surge late in the match to grab a 2-0 victory over the UC Irvine Anteaters on Thursday at Lower Soccer Field.

In the Cougs’ first home game in nearly two weeks, Lexi Lee made a shot in the 84th minute to give her team the lead. She was assisted by Delaney Hawkins.

Hawkins had a goal of her own just six minutes later when she scored in the 90th minute. Reagan Brisendine and Riley Carolan were credited with the assists.

It was a game full of shots; WSU (2-2-1) shot the ball 18 times while UC Irvine (0-2-1) shot 13 times.

WSU goalie Ashlyn Dvorak ended the game with four saves.
