BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Three people were killed and at least three others suffered major injuries in a head-on crash Friday morning in the Lakeview area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Copus Road just west of Old River Road.

CHP said an unsafe lane change was involved in the crash. Investigators have not determined which vehicle made the unsafe lane change.
Copus Road was closed in both directions following the crash.
Earlier, a Kern County Fire Department fire chief at the scene said three people were killed and four others were taken to a hospital.
