LAPD officer injured after being hit by car in Sylmar – NBC Los Angeles

A Los Angeles Police Department officer was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Sylmar late Friday evening, officials said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 13500 block of Foothill Boulevard near Hubbard Street around 7:50 p.m.

Authorities say the police officer was at an incident in the area when he was hit by a car. More details about his injuries or his condition are unknown.

Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed a large LAPD and Los Angeles Fire Department response near the scene.

It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt.

A witness told NBC Los Angeles that the driver who struck the officer first swerved to avoid hitting another car that was slowing down due to traffic in the area.

“When he swerved to the left, unfortunately, the cop was there,” Brenda Miranda said.

She said the driver didn’t stop after hitting the officer.

“He was lying on the ground,” Miranda said about the officer. “I mean, his partners came to him. It was not easy to see.”
