The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a 26-year-old Orange County man who they say used a metal baseball bat to repeatedly strike a 71-year-old Crestline woman in her home, causing severe injuries.
Erik Eduardo Navarro had temporarily moved in with the woman about two weeks ago. The Sheriff’s Department did not have information Friday, Aug. 28, on how they met.
“The attack stemmed from the victim asking Navarro to leave the residence,” a sheriff’s news release said. “During the argument, Navarro struck the victim multiple times with a metal baseball bat at various spots on her body and kicked her several times. Navarro fled the scene before deputies arrived.”
Deputies went to her home on Straight Way around 6 a.m. on Aug. 25 after someone asked deputies to check on her. They found the woman suffering from a cut on her forehead, a cut eyebrow, swollen hands and injuries near her eyes that caused swelling that made seeing difficult, the release said.
