OAKLAND — Officers arrested a suspect in connection with an armed kidnapping Tuesday in Oakland, police said.
The incident happened just after 5 p.m. in the 1700 block of Embarcadero Road, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The victim told officers the suspect kidnapped her and drove a short distance before she managed to escape. She also provided a description of the suspect vehicle.
Officers in a helicopter spotted the vehicle near the intersection of 10th Avenue and International Boulevard. While following the vehicle, officers saw the suspect toss out a gun, police said.
Officers on the ground arrested the suspect in the 2000 block of San Pablo Avenue after he crashed into a parked vehicle, police said. The firearm was also recovered.
Police said the incident is under investigation.
