Cal State Bakersfield hosts UNLV in an early-season men’s college soccer match.

The next three games are going to be a test for UNLV (1-1-0). The Rebels hit the road for three straight non-conference games against California opponents. First up, Cal State Bakersfield (1-0-1). The Roadrunners opened the season with a win over Utah Tech followed by a tie with 17th-ranked UCLA. Zenden Hart and the Roadrunners are off to a strong start this season, allowing just one goal in their first two games. Hart, a fifth-year graduate student from Australia, has seven saves already for a Roadrunner defense that is looking formidable. Senior Oshea Foster has both of the Roadrunners’ goals this season with assists from Jackson Chambers and Joey Velasquez. Last season, Foster was tied for the most goals on the team with three. Through two matches this season, he is one goal away from tying that total.

Foster spent his first season in college with San Diego before transferring to play for the Bruins for the next two seasons. He barely played for the Bruins before transferring to the Roadrunners. In Foster’s first meeting against his former team, he scored a goal at the ’71 mark to give his team the edge, nearly pulling off the upset.

Both of the Rebels’ goals this season are from one player as well. Maxim Scordo kicked in two goals in the season opener with assists from Nick Legendre and Andres Robles.

The sophomore from California is off to as good a start as possible this season. Transferring from Dayton has opened up more opportunity for Scordo, who is already halfway to the team lead in goals scored last season by Bryce Allred.
