Disneyland Resort brought a day of complimentary Disney-themed experiences to residents across Anaheim, California.
The Happiest Day in Anaheim
On August 27, Disneyland Resort hosted the “Happiest Day in Anaheim,” a series of community events culminating in a large evening celebration at Center Greens Park.
The day began at the Ponderosa Family Resource Center, where more than 125 senior citizens participated in yoga led by instructors from Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The celebration also included Disney Bingo, crafts with Disney VoluntEARS, treats, dancing, Disneyland Resort photo backdrops, and an appearance by Goofy.
Disneyland Resort also provided four local libraries and two additional senior communities with supplies to host their own Disney-themed celebrations.
The festivities continued at Danbrook Elementary School, where more than 400 students across seven grade levels participated in a Disney-inspired field day. Disney VoluntEARS organized four themed activity areas, including a Toontown Dance-Stravaganza, Pixar Pier Relay Rally, and New Orleans Square Swashbuckling Soiree.
Students also had the opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse. At the end of the event, each student received a Disney swag bag containing items such as Mickey ear headbands and a Mickey-shaped crispy treat.
Disneyland Resort thanked the school’s 75 teachers and staff members by giving each of them complimentary admission to Disneyland Resort for themselves and one guest.
The day culminated with “Main Street on Your Street,” which brought elements of Main Street, U.S.A., to Center Greens Park. According to Disney, more than 3,000 Anaheim residents attended the event.
Attendees could play carnival-style games, create paper versions of their own Main Street, U.S.A., windows, and take photos with backdrops depicting Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Disneyland Resort marquee. Complimentary food included hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars.
Mary Poppins and the Pearly Band performed during the event, while Miguel from Coco and Mirabel from Encanto greeted residents. Mickey Mouse and several of his friends later took the stage to dance to classic Disney songs.
The Disneyland Resort Fire Engine was also displayed at the park for the duration of the event.
All of the day’s special activities were available to Anaheim residents and community members free of charge. The Ponderosa and Danbrook activities were organized for their respective communities, while “Main Street on Your Street” required Anaheim residents to register in advance.
Disney Social Responsibility Manager Eric Benitez told the Orange County Register that the event was about “really just wanting to celebrate the residents in Anaheim.”
“Anaheim has been Disneyland’s home since our beginning, so we wanted to give a big thank you to the resident. And all of the stops we’ve been doing across the month, there’s just been so many smiles.”
Leading up to the Happiest Day in Anaheim, Disney VoluntEARS made surprise visits to community centers and events throughout the city. According to Disney, these stops reached more than 2,000 residents during August and included giveaways such as bubble wands, Mickey Mouse plush, and Minnie Mouse ear headbands.
Disneyland Resort hosted a similar three-day initiative from August 20 through August 22, 2025, as part of their 70th anniversary festivities. The “70 Happiest Hours in Anaheim” brought Disney activities to schools, recreation facilities, community centers, and parks throughout the city.
