Lowrider community comes together for day of unity at William Land Park
Lowriders filled William Land Park on Saturday as car clubs, families and community members gathered for “Unity for the Lowrider Community.”
The free event celebrates lowrider culture with classic cars, custom paintwork, hydraulics, music, vendors and a recognition ceremony honoring members of the community.
Organizers said the gathering is about much more than the cars. The goal is to create a space centered on family, culture, respect and unity.
For many participants, lowriding is also a tradition passed down through generations, with parents and grandparents sharing their love of custom cars and the culture surrounding them with younger family members.
Organizers said events like this also help challenge old stereotypes about the lowrider community by highlighting the families, artists, car clubs and community members who support one another and give back.
The free event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at William Land Park.
