PONTIAC, Mich. – An ambulance was stolen from the emergency entrance of McLaren Oakland Hospital before deputies stopped the driver a short distance from the hospital, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The ambulance, operated by a private company, was reported stolen on Wednesday (Aug. 26) about 8:44 p.m. from the hospital’s emergency entrance in Pontiac, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver traveled a short distance from the hospital before being stopped by deputies.
Deputies recovered the ambulance without damage, and officials said nothing was missing.
The driver was taken into custody.
The motive behind the alleged theft remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
