A 26-year-old man riding an electric bike died Saturday after he ran a red traffic light and was struck by a vehicle in Vista, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly before 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road, near Breeze Hill Park in Vista, sheriff’s officials said.
The rider crossed Melrose against a red signal and was struck by a northbound vehicle, officials said. The man was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Officials did not say whether the man was wearing a helmet. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the collision, officials said.
