On Monday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. in Del Mar Town Hall (1050 Camino Del Mar), Del Mar Community Connections will host “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Medicare Hospice Benefit But Were Afraid To Ask.” Juliet York, senior community liaison at Hospice of the North Coast, will walk attendees through the essentials of hospice care.
Topics include an overview of Medicare Part A hospice benefits, guidance on who qualifies for hospice, and practical advice on the key questions to ask when interviewing a hospice provider. Designed for older adults, family members, and caregivers, the presentation will offer straightforward information to help families make informed, confident decisions during a difficult time.

York brings over 25 years of healthcare experience focused on supporting families through life’s most difficult transitions. She holds a degree in gerontology from San Diego State University and spent 17 years as a social services director, working across assisted living, skilled nursing, care management, and home care. For nearly four years she has served as senior community liaison at Hospice of the North Coast, a nonprofit that has cared for North County families for more than 45 years and is a repeated gold-medal “Best of North County” recipient.
In this role she helps families understand their options, navigate the healthcare system, and access compassionate end-of-life care with clarity and dignity. Her passion is simple: making sure no family feels alone or lost when facing the final chapter of a loved one’s life. Outside of work, York is a practicing martial artist who holds a black belt in Kung Fu, trained with monks at the Shaolin Temple in China, and is a 100-mile ultra runner. She and her husband have made their home and served the community of San Diego’s North County for the past 25 years.
