On Sunday at 1:16 p.m. an updated beach hazards statement was released by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA in effect until Monday at 3 p.m. The statement is for Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles.
“Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves with isolated sets up to 6 feet due to elevated surf from southerly swells,” can be anticipated according to the NWS. “A series of southerly swells will continue to impact Southern California through much of next week.”
“There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore,” describes the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
This statement is in effect until Monday at 3 p.m.
