Oakland PD has asked residents near Manzanita Park to shelter in place as they search for an armed suspect.
The police department said they received multiple 911 calls at 10:30 a.m. about a man threatening to kill a woman at Manzanita Park.
Officers arrived at the scene, and the suspect immediately began shooting at the officers, police said. Authorities said the officers returned fired and the suspect fled to the neighborhood.
Authorities added the woman was rescued.
The police department said they set up a perimeter and asked residents near Manzanita Park, in the area of 22nd Avenue and East 28th Street, to shelter in place as officers say the suspect is armed and trying to navigate through different backyards.
