
A woman was allegedly shot and killed by her estranged husband Sunday in the parking lot of a Denny’s restaurant in Madera County.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kate Woertman said the shooting happened at 11:33 a.m. at the restaurant, located near 18 1/2 Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.
Deputies arrived at the scene and found a woman who had been shot multiple times. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told deputies that the suspect, identified as David Moreno, fled towards Highway 99 in a small white SUV, similar to a RAV4. Fresno County deputies detained Moreno at Highway 41 and Manning Avenue.
Detectives determined that the shooting is a domestic violence incident.
Woertman said the investigation is active.
