The San Francisco 49ers have officially announced their final cuts and they have an initial 53-man roster.

These won’t be the last of their roster moves leading up to their Week 1 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. Expect a handful of shuffles as players clear waivers and determinations are made on what the team will do with certain injured players.

There are only 52 players on the initial roster, so there’ll be at least one more move on the way (likely the trade for Houston Texans offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson).

Here’s what the initial 53-man roster looks like for now (rookies in bold):

Quarterback (3)Brock PurdyMac JonesKurtis RourkeYour fantasy edge starts here Sync your league for custom roster advice, projections, and tools to win your matchups every week.

Note: Three quarterbacks as expected. The 49ers couldn’t risk losing Rourke on waivers so he sticks on the 53-man roster.

Running back (3)Christian McCaffreyJordan JamesKaelon Black

PUP list: Isaac Guerendo

Note: Again, no surprises in this group. Expect at least one of Sincere McCormick or Khalil Herbert to be on the practice squad. Guerendo is also some in-house depth who’ll be available to return after Week 4.

Fullback (1)

Note: N/A

Wide receiver (6)Mike EvansDeebo SamuelDe’Zhaun StriblingDemarcus RobinsonJacob CowingJordan Watkins

IR, return designation: Christian Kirk

Note: These are the six we thought would be on the roster, but Watkins’ spot isn’t necessarily safe with the 49ers needing to make a handful of additional roster moves before their season begins.

Tight end (4)George KittleJake TongesLuke FarrellBrayden Willis

Note: Good for Willis! He’s been in the system for three seasons now and figures to be capable of playing a handful of snaps if Kittle is either unavailable or limited in some way.

Offensive line (8)Trent WilliamsColton McKivitzJake BrendelDominick PuniCarver WillisEnrique Cruz Jr.Vederian LoweConnor Colby

IR, return designation: Austen Pleasants

IR, no return designation: Brett Toth, Nick Zakelj

Note: Only eight offensive linemen, but it should be nine once the trade for Jarrett Patterson is made official. Lowe was an IR candidate so he could still be headed there now that he’s on the 53-man roster, but there’s a chance the high ankle sprain he suffered early in camp is cleared up early in the year.

Defensive line (9)DE Nick BosaDT Osa OdighizuwaDT Alfred CollinsDT CJ WestDT Gracen HaltonDE Sam OkuayinonuDE Keion WhiteDE Romello HeightDT James Thompson Jr.

PUP list: Mykel Williams

Note: Shoutout to the UDFA Thompson Jr. for cracking the 53-man roster. There aren’t any surprises in this group. Injuries may force the 49ers to dip into their practice squad to find some depth for Week 1, but the names on the initial 53 look right.

Linebacker (7)Fred WarnerDre GreenlawTatum BethuneJaden DuggerGarret WallowLuke GiffordNick Martin

Note: That’s a lot of linebackers. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see one or two of these guys go to IR when the 49ers make their next batch of roster moves.

Cornerback (6)Deommodore LenoirRenardo GreenUpton StoutJack JonesEphesians PrysockNate Hobbs

Note: Hobbs has been dealing with injuries throughout camp. The veteran is an IR or cut candidate in a fairly deep cornerback room.

Safety (4)Ji’Ayir BrownMalik MustaphaMarques SigleSiran Neal

Note: Nothing interesting happening at safety. Ideally Mustapha is back from his hamstring injury for the opener, even if he’s not in the starting lineup.

Specialists (1)

Note: We’ll call this a “shocker” since the 49ers let go of their only punter and long snapper. Corliss Waitman and Jon Weeks are both vested veterans who will be back once the 49ers make their decisions on IR slots to open roster spots for them.
