After 27 years in Kensington and now an older adult, I have returned to my old neighborhood of Hillcrest. As others have stated, the rapid, high-rise construction of leased units without parking is astounding.
I understand the need for “growth, housing and change,” yet if the city is creating walkable and bikeable neighborhoods, it should include services such as affordable grocery stores or bodegas, a pharmacy, a library, etc., within walking distance.
Many of us were hoping for some of these ground-floor services in these huge and high-rent buildings. We have enough gyms. How about considering the needs of the rest of us?
