We just made things happen,” said VincentMemorial quarterback Azual Trujillo.Vincent Memorial quarterback Azul Trujillo threw for six touchdowns in the win. That’s tied forthe third most touchdown passes in a single game in CIF Flag Football history.Trujillo’s biggest throw of the night came with under three minutes to play in the fourth quarter .On a second and ten from the 20-yard line, she’d hit wide receiver Jessica Manriquez for a game-winning20-yard touchdown pass. It’d be Manriquez’s fourth receiving touchdown of the night.“We saw that they had the safety on her side, so at the last minute we motioned Jessica over to gether singled up,” said Vincent Memorial coach Ivan Mendez, “She ran a great route, and Azul threw agreat ball. Whenever they played man, I told Jessica do whatever she wants ”
Torrey Pines Captures CIF DI TitleIn both 2023 and 2024, the Falcons made appearances in the CIF DI Championship game. Onlyto fall in both previous title bouts.Playing in their third straight CIF title game, Torrey Pines finally exercised their demons.Defeating Westview 20-13 to earn the Program’s first CIF DI title.“Definitely a bit of a revenge tour,” said Torrey Pines coach Ryland Wickman, “The girls justplayed hard. Olympian tops Canyon Crest in CIF DV Final, Wins second straight CIF TitleLed by a three-touchdown effort from Aubrey Tibayan, Olympian High School cruised to a 25-12victory over Canyon Crest Academy in the CIF DV championship game.The program’s second consecutive CIF title.“We’ve kind of built a legacy,” said Olympian coach Michael Christensen, “It’s a testament to ourteam. Everyone has stepped up and fought for each other.” After trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter,Olympian responded by scoring 25 unanswered points over the game’s final three quarters.That’d include a pair of six-yard rushing touchdowns from Tibayan to give Olympian a 12-6 leadat the half. In the third quarter, Tibayan got involved in the passing game. Hitting Sophia Ramirez instride for a 39-yard touchdown.“She is one of the best in the county, and everyone knows it,” Christensen said.
