BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — More than two dozen volunteers gathered in east Bakersfield for a cleanup operation in Heritage Park.
The Bakersfield Victory Outreach Band church organized the effort, which brought together volunteers of all ages to piece up broken glass pieces, trash and other items to help clean up the park.
The church said they want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the beauty of parks across the city and that they hope that many more can take inspiration from their clean up.
Nolberto Gomez with Victory Outreach Bakersfield said the group wants residents to keep enjoying the park.
“Sometimes this part of Bakersfield is not considered the greatest part to live in, but if we all do our little part like we just did right now, we’re going to continue to do if we all do our little part, we can make it a great place for families to still live in this area and still enjoy a park like this,” he told 17 News.
Organizers said the church hopes to conduct similar clean up events at other local parks in the future, adding that Jefferson Park might be the next on their list.
